The Yinnar Recreation Reserve (YRR) is a managed and operated by a community and user group voluntary Committee of Management (CoM). The YRR is located approximately 1 kilometre east of Yinnar on Jumbuk Road and  is connected to the township by a shared pedestrian / cycling path, providing safe access from the town.

The Reserve was established jointly on Crown and Latrobe City Council owned land. The Reserve size is around 20 acres and was established in 1958 on land purchased by the Crown specifically to service the sporting and recreation needs of the Yinnar community. Public open space in the Yinnar township was swapped and then sold in exchange for the current site.

The former City of Morwell acquired a parcel of land adjoining the Reserve in 1988 to create the current 20 acre site. The construction of the two ovals and facilities at the Reserve have been mainly financed by user groups and the local community, with the assistance of some state & local government funding.

The Committee of Management was established in 1958, when the Reserve itself was established.
